A Knelson CVD6 concentrator is on display as part of the process circuit for recycling printed circuit boards. The concentrator will be used to reject the lighter non-valuable matertial and produce a high-grade concentrate.

LARGO, Florida - Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC), an independent nonprofit research and development organization, has developed an innovative process for recycling printed circuit boards using a Knelson Continuous Variable Discharge (CVD) concentrator. This exciting new application for a Knelson continuous-type concentrator will revolutionize the cost effectiveness in recycling printed circuit boards.

After conducting preliminary bench-scale testing at Knelson's Research & Testing Centre (KRTC), Concurrent purchased and commissioned a Knelson pilot scale CVD6 concentrator as an integral part of their demonstration circuit.

Today's technology for recycling of circuit boards involves shredding the boards and sending the powdered product directly to smelter. The Knelson continuous-type concentrator will be used to reject the lighter non- valuable material and produce a high-grade concentrate that can be sent to smelter for treatment.

The Knelson CVD Concentrator is a fluidized-bed centrifuge used to separate particles based on specific gravity and size. The concentrator is environmentally friendly needing only water and compressed air to facilitate particle separations.

The CVD is a modified version of the batch-type Knelson Concentrator that is the standard in mining for gravity gold and platinum group metal recovery.
