May 20th, 2003

AFRICA - Knelson is pleased to announce the recent award of three separate contracts to provide the state-of-the-art Knelson technology to the African market.

Knelson Concentrators Africa (KCA) of Randburg South Africa was awarded the contract to supply South African heavy-weight gold producer Gold Fields with four KC-XD30 model concentrators to be installed at their Beatrix Gold Mine in the Freestate.

"This award comes after more than three and a half years of due diligence studies and comparisons with all other available gravity recovery equipment technologies," said KCA Sales Manager Peter Van Den Steen.

In 2002, the Beatrix Gold Mine accounted for 655,000/ozs. of the 4.1 million ounces Gold Fields produced.

At yet another Gold Fields' operation, KCA will be working with Johannesburg based-engineers Turnberry Projects to supply a KC-XD20 Knelson Concentrator, complete with Independent Control System (ICS) automation and a Variable-Gravity (VG) package.

The unit will be used in a secondary grinding circuit application at Gold Fields' Driefontein Division in Gauteng. Collectively the Driefontein operations accounted for 1.3 million ounces of Gold Fields production in 2002.

Both these contracts come on the heels an order in January by Multi Tech Services Ltd. of Accra, Ghana for a KC-XD48 supplied to Gold Fields - Abosso; Damang Mine in Ghana. The Knelson KC-XD48 was selected as part of a gravity circuit expansion at Damang. Multi-Tech Services Ltd. (Knelson's Ghanaian representative) had been working with mill personnel at Abosso-Damang over the last 24 months to secure this order.

"Winning this order was extremely gratifying for our Knelson team here at Multi-Tech," commented Managing Director Angelo Massimino. "We're extremely confident that the Knelson will boost gravity recovery and we look forward to commissioning the unit very soon."

In 2003, Knelson is celebrating 25 years of gravity concentration excellence having developed and commercialized the first centrifugal concentrator - The Knelson Concentrator - in 1978. Since that time, Knelson has supplied over 2500 units in more than 70 countries worldwide.
