LANGLEY, B.C. - Knelson Gravity Solutions' introduction of the world's largest centrifugal gravity concentrator this past October 17th was not just about size. Standing over 4M tall and weighing in excess of 20 tonnes, the KC-XD70 is definitely BIG on the outside, but it is what is on the inside that has captured the interest and excitement of the industry.
First of all, there's CONE*Logic, an application based approach to concentrate cone selection and configuration. CONE*Logic offers a wide variety of cone configuration options that can be easily tailored to meet the specific requirements of any operating duty. Furthermore, several of these innovations have enabled greatly enhanced unit capacities including the development of a proprietary ultra high wear resistant urethane compound known as Knelthane, and through the innovative use of ceramic impregnated urethane wear components.
Secondly, the KC-XD70 incorporates patented FLEX*Flo technology, a whole new method of cone fluidization. "FLEX*Flo brings a number of benefits to Knelson's worldwide customer base", states Sean Waller, Knelson Gravity Solutions Manager of Process Engineering. FLEX*Flo significantly reduces, if not completely eliminates, cone scaling concerns, and offers simple, quick and easy, in-situ cone cleaning. Further, easily re-configurable fluidization profiles enable fast and inexpensive technology upgrades into existing cone shells. Adds Waller, "FLEX*Flo will soon be available on all production Knelson models, making it an attractive option for all operations, not just those suited to the KC-XD70."
Considered the most significant advancement in concentrate cone technology since the introduction of the Generation 5 (G5) concentrating cone in 1998, the release of these exciting innovations is further evidence of Knelson's on-going commitment to product development and evidence of their desire to maintain their position as global technology leaders in gravity concentration excellence - a tradition they've maintained for the past 25 years.
Knelson is a Langley-based company specializing in the research, development and international marketing of mineral processing solutions. In 2003, Knelson is celebrating 25 years of gravity concentration excellence, having developed and commercialized the first centrifugal concentrator - The Knelson Concentrator - in 1978. Since that time, Knelson has supplied over 2500 units in more than 70 countries worldwide.
